In this guide, we’ll walk through setting up a point-to-point link between two UniFi UDB-Pros. This walkthrough assumes that something has gone wrong and we’re starting fresh.
- If you’re setting these up for the first time straight out of the box, you can skip Step 1 and proceed directly to the adoption process.
Step 1 – Factory Reset Both Units
Disconnect the UDB units from your network.
Use the included PoE injector:
Plug the UDB into the injector (power only).
On the injector, locate the reset button (opposite side of the LED at the top).
Hold the reset button for 10 seconds until the unit resets.
Repeat for the second unit.
Unplug both units after resetting.
Step 2 – Adopt the “Main” UDB Unit
Choose which UDB will be the main unit (the one connected to a UniFi network with a UDM/UDR/UCG.
Connect the main UDB to your network and power it via PoE.
In your UniFi Controller, wait for the unit to appear and adopt it.
Step 3 – Adopt the “Remote” UDB Unit
On the remote side, make sure no APs are meshing with the unit.
To ensure this, power the unit via PoE without any data connection.
Wait a short time – it should appear in your UniFi Controller for adoption.
Once it appears, adopt it into your network.
Step 4 – Finalize Setup
After adoption, you can reconnect both UDB units back to your USW-Ultra or chosen switch.
The bridge will automatically link, providing a wireless connection between the two locations.
✅ You’ve now set up your UniFi UDB pair!
