This article provides a smooth and simple process of upgrading the application on your airVision-C from airVision v1.x/2.x to UniFi Video 3.x, or your UVC-NVR or UVC-NVR-2TB to UniFi Video v3.1.5 (the last supported version for airCam Gen1 cameras) and beyond when you experience issues upgrading from the web interface.
If you have:
- A Ubiquiti airVision-C running airVision 2.x that you want to upgrade to UniFi Video v3.1.5 (last version for airCam v1 cameras airCam, airCam-Mini, airCam-Dome)
- A Ubiquiti airVision-C running airVision v2.x.x that you want to upgrade to UniFi Video v3.x.x
- A Ubiquiti UVC-NVR or UVC-NVR-2TB that you want to upgrade to beyond v3.8.5
Upgrading via the UI:
If you have purchased a new UVC_NVR that comes factory with UniFi Video 3.1.2 installed then make sure you upgrade BEFORE configuring your NVR as you WILL LOSE YOUR CONFIGURATION!!! You will first upgrade to 3.1.5 which will reset your UniFi Video configuration. Once running 3.1.5 you can upgrade to 3.2.x which should migrate (keep) your configuration. Please note that 3.1.5 is the last remaining version supporting Gen 1 airCams, after 3.1.5 only UVC Gen 2 cameras are supported.
Step 1 - Connecting to your UVC-NVR or airVision-C via SSH:
Windows Users:
Install PuTTy, select SSH and enter the IP Address of the NVR. The default username is "root" and the password will be your password used to manage the NVR (default "ubnt"). On later versions of the UVC_NVR you may need to enable SSH under Configure Device > Configuration > Services.
Mac / Linux:
Open a New Terminal window and enter the following:
ssh root@nvr_ip_address
Step 2 - Download and run the script:
wget http://firmware.gowifi.co.nz/ubnt/unifi-video/upgrade_script/unifi_video_updater.sh -O unifi_video_updater.sh; sh unifi_video_updater.sh
