Choosing the right headset

USB and Bluetooth headsets for your computer are perfect for applications like Skype, Lync, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Zoom and many other applications on your Mac or Windows computer. Bluetooth Headsets do require your computer to have bluetooth already (most laptops these days do, desktop computers may require a bluetooth adaptor).

Corded headsets require a "Geni Cord" (adaptor cable) to make it work with your specific brand of IP Phone and Headset. Geni Cords typically have a special QD (Quick Disconnect) connector on when end of the cable and a RJ9 connector on the other end which plugs into your RJ9 headset port on your IP Phone. ChatBit also has a 3.5mm Geni Cord available so you can connect your headset to your Mobile Phone or IP Phone that has a 3.5mm headset jack.

Bluetooth headsets are a great option if you want a wireless headset where you will be typically at your desk or in the same room as your IP Phone. This is because bluetooth has a typical range of 10m or so. Some bluetooth headsets may boast farther range however in reality you may see a degradation in call quality if you go beyond the same room as your IP Phone.

DECT headsets are typically more expensive than bluetooth headsets however this is because they can stay connected to your phone with much further range. This makes walking through a warehouse or around your entire house while on a call possible.
