Background:
Cambium ePMP radios support an impressive 200+ Mbps throughput to deliver bandwidth-intensive services such as VoIP (Voice over IP), video and data to end users across multiple vertical markets. ePMP is optimised for outdoor applications, offering connectivity up to 40 miles with Cambium antenna accessories and beyond 40 with higher gain products.

Scenario:
This blog will explain how to configure a Cambium ePMP 1000 Point to Point link.

Step 1:

Connect your PC to the LAN port of the Power Injector and connect the Data+Power port into the ePMP radio.

The default IP of an ePMP is 192.168.0.2

Put an address on your PC other than this, let's say 192.168.0.10

Step 2:

Browse to the webpage of the device and log in using the default credentials of admin/admin.

We'll first update the firmware of the device. Head to https://support.cambiumnetworks.com/files/epmp/ and download the latest firmware for the model of ePMP that you have.

Go to the Tools menu on the ePMP and click on 'Software Upgrade'

Select the file you've downloaded from the Cambium website, and select 'Upgrade'.

The file will upload. You will then need to reboot the radio via the power icon in the top right

Step 3:

Once the unit has come back online, log in again and go to the 'Quick Start' page located on the left

For the Access Point:

Select Access Point for the radio mode, and select the country you are in so that it adheres to the local power limits for the radio.

Select an SSID and give the device a friendly name so that you can identify it.

If you want to have a static IP address on the device to manage it, select Static under IP Assignment and put in your address here.

Under Wireless Security, select WPA2 and put in a key over 8 characters.

Once this is done, click the save button at the top of the page, and then reboot the device.

the Station (remote end):

Select Subscriber Station for the radio mode, and give the device a name under the 'Device Name' so that you can identify it.

If you want to have a static IP address on the device to manage it, select Static under IP Assignment and put in your address here.

Enter the same WPA2 Pre-shared Key from what you entered into the Access Point.

Once this is done, click the save button at the top of the page, and then reboot the device.

Step 4:

Go to the Monitor menu, and then to Wireless and you should see that there is a Registered Subscriber Module from the Access Point, and from the Station (Subscriber Module), you will see that Access Point that the device is connected to, including relevant wireless link information.

Bonus Tip:

Don't forget to change the admin default password under the Configuration > System menu, under the 'Account Management' section.
